Devon Bate

Devon Bate – Durham, NS


Devon has devoted much of his time as a board member for United Way, representing the Youth of Pictou County as well as being the founder and president of the Pictou County Youth Council. In 2009 he went to Guatemala to help provide supplies to orphanages and assist in building a school and a library. He also created a volunteer networking website to help connect volunteers with a wide variety of opportunities. At school Devon organized a ribbon campaign to raise funds for Haiti, hosted an event to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by people with disabilities and sponsored two children for Christmas through the Interact Club. He was also Co-President of the Student Council and President of the Rotary Interact Club. Athletically Devon was part of the Varsity Basketball Team, the Cross Country Running Team and the Soccer Team.

Devon will be studying Commerce at Dalhousie University.
